1 Minute Maine 6/24/2020: New Use of Force Rules for Police, Another REAL-ID Extension & Farmington Explosion Investigation Complete

Another extension has been approved for Mainers to get their IDs updated to the federal REAL-ID standard – The new deadline is October 1, 2021. A tractor trailer driver hit a guardrail on I-295 this morning and overturned, shutting down both lanes. The Maine Criminal Justice Academy has issued new rules for the use of force, which include directing officers to intervene with colleagues and reporting abuses by other officers to superiors. After an investigation into the cause of the deadly explosion at the LEAP building in Farmington last fall, the Maine State Fuel Board has fined a CN Brown fuel technician who filled the building’s propane tank a few days before the explosion that killed one firefighter and injured several other people. He was also temporarily suspended for 15 days.
