1 Minute Maine 7/1/2020: Baxter Open Again, No More Cops in Portland Schools & Sea Dogs Cancelled

Welcome to a new month! Baxter State Park has opened back up after delaying their season. The Portland Sea Dogs and all minor league baseball teams across the country have cancelled their 2020 season, due to ongoing coronavirus concerns and player contract issues. The Portland School Committee voted 7-2 to terminate their contract with school resource police officers at two high schools in the city. The United Way of Maine has received 25,000 masks for their Mask Up for ME event, and they’ll start distributing them soon. Animal shelters are starting to open back up across the state, and the Maine Treasurer’s Office is holding more than $260 million worth of unclaimed property.
