Maine Beacon: As State Revenues Crash, It’s Finally Time to Tax the Wealthy

State revenues have been drastically reduced as a result of the pandemic. Pending bills closing corporate tax loopholes and estate tax exemptions could help, and options like repealing the LePage-era tax breaks for the wealthy or finally implementing 2016’s Question 2 tax increase on those making more than $200,000 a year could close the gap without cutting health care and education.. Esther, Ben and Mike discuss state government’s options.

Also: Independent U.S. Senate candidate Lisa Savage joins to discuss her support for Medicare for All and her campaign’s ranked-choice voting strategy.

Plus: Opening schools, tracking tourists and shining some rays of hope.
